The kitchen is central to the hearts and minds of European and Central Americans and this was the inspiration behind Entrepreneur and owner Fabrizio. With the blending of cultures that inspire the non-traditional mix of New and Old World culture, Per Se Social Corner is a hybrid of the classic Italian Kitchen and modern Spanish and Latin American Tapas Bar. Highlighted by local and international music, accented with a clean and modern decor Per Se Social Corner is the place where the fashionable come to play.

The Cascade Room is situated by what was once Brewery Creek, where the original Vancouver Brewery brewed some mighty fine beers. However, nothing compared to their flagship brew, “Cascade – The Beer without Peer”. The Cascade Room is a nod to that fine drop, the neighbourhood they’re in, and to all those who came before. They offer a fine selection of beers and extensive cocktail list, along with British Pub inspired menu.

Ballin’ on a Budget in Yaletown

August 15, 2017/in Journeys, Vibes /by Kevin Wiens

Vancouverites, you’ve worked hard this week and are officially over the hump. The halfway point of the week has long been a time to let loose and shake off any workday stress. As such, there is no better way to spend your Wednesday than ballin’ on a budget in Yaletown. There is no better feeling than capitalizing on daily drink deals while roaming the Yaletown streets. Using the VanCity Drinks mobile app, we’ve generated an itinerary for you to help you get through the week and enjoy great drinks without breaking the bank.

If you hustle from the office, you can make it in time for their 3pm-6pm happy hour and get their feature beer, the Rosalinda Lager for just $4! We would recommend coupling your refreshing beer with some of their Pinche Chips (also $5).

Where to Watch the Playoffs in Vancouver

April 27, 2017/in Vibes /by Bob Pember

While Vancouver doesn’t have any actual claims in this year’s NHL or NBA playoffs (are we allowed to be proud of the Grizzlies? Must we really cheer for the Oilers?), that’s no excuse to not enjoy one of the most exciting times in the sports year. There’s nothing better than meeting the gang to catch buzzer-beating three-pointers and game-winning goals in double overtime over pints. We’ve put together some of the best pubs and bars in town to watch NHL & NBA playoff games while catching great drink specials. Enjoy (even if you’re a Oilers fan).

The Butcher & Bullock

911 West Pender Street, Downtown

watch NHL & NBA playoff games 1

With 11 HD TVs and a 202-inch projection screen, it’s no wonder why the Butcher & Bullock is Vancouver’s most reliable pub for sports viewing of all kind. Showing all of the playoff games, you’ll be able to see those that are left try to bring the Cup home on the big screen while enjoying the best food and drink you could ask for from a proper pub. The fun and lively atmosphere is made complete by having 28 different beers on tap to choose from, including a full selection of Lower Mainland and BC breweries. With a brand new, elevated menu, daily drink specials, and one of the best happy hours in town, you can’t find a better spot to properly enjoy the playoffs this year.

Located right on Davie Street, this West End favourite is geared up for the NHL playoffs. Famous for their excellent pub food and elaborately garnished caesars, Score is the perfect spot to hunker into and watch the games while filling up on fried chicken, burgers, and craft beer. Featuring a mix of North American and European beers on tap, there’s something for every beer drinker. And yes, their caesar list is second to none (seriously – we’re talking burgers and chocolate cake as garnishes).

Daily drink specials (all specials offered on Mondays). Happy Hour: Mondays – Thursdays (10 PM – close) featuring $3.50 sleeves and $12 jugs.

The Charles Bar

136 West Cordova Street, Gastown

The Charles Bar is a great sports destination year-round, but during playoffs, their wall of TVs are the ticket to settling into the nightly post-season emotional roller coaster. In the ground floor of the Woodward’s building, this Gastown go-to keeps a lively spectator atmosphere regardless of the game, with well-crafted food and drinks. They feature local beers on tap and daily drink specials that let you enjoy as many overtimes as the NHL can dish out without a huge bill. They’re also a great brunch destination with drink specials until 2 PM for those lazy weekend days when you just want to be surrounded by sports and beer.

Vancouver’s Best Weekend Happy Hours & Drink Specials

March 9, 2017/in Journeys, Vibes /by Bob Pember

We all have our favourite happy hour spots during the week. It’s not hard to find a pub or restaurant that’s helping the after-work crowd unwind with drink specials Monday to Friday. Once the weekend is here, we’re usually on our own in Vancouver as happy hours become few and far between.

Luckily, there are establishments that have made the decision to take care of your happy hour needs seven days a week. We’ve found some of these noble pubs and featured five of our favourite destinations for great drinks at great prices on Saturday and Sunday with Vancouver’s best weekend happy hours & drink specials.

Portland Craft

Main Street
Happy hour daily 3-5pm with $5 rotating US craft beers, $4 local draught, and $4 Jameson. $3.50 for any 12oz beer during lunch daily.

The taps at Portland Craft have something for even the pickiest craft beer palate.

Opening on Main Street as craft beer was about to explode in popularity, Portland Craft has been focused on bringing the best of Pacific Northwest breweries to the city for the last five years. They feature rotating taps from California, Oregon, and Washington, as well as local BC favourites. With new beers coming in each week, there’s always something new to try on happy hour (you can tell which ones are featured by the smiley faces on the menu board). They also have a daily lunch special where you can try a 12-ounce pour of any of their beers for 3.50.

The relaxed atmosphere (complete with no TVs) and welcoming staff make this an ideal choice for anyone looking to settle into a weekend afternoon properly. And when the lunch special ends, happy hour begins.

So whether you’re feeling like sipping on a Malbec, trying out a Mandarin Mule, or shooting straight fireball, the Parlour can accommodate any and all happy hour needs.

A staple of Gastown and impossible to miss when walking through the neighbourhood, Steamworks has become an institution in Vancouver. It’s a postcard type of spot for a weekend lunch that lets you sit right across from the north shore mountains. They run their daily drink specials along with a lunchtime happy hour on the weekends. Kolsch (the featured beer) is “cheaper than pop” during lunch, which is music to our ears. The attached brewery means that their full range of beers is close at hand, and their menu is full of pub favourites and west coast specialties for refuelling on the weekends. The lively atmosphere and knowledgeable staff create a classic pub feel in the heart of the downtown scene.
