Patiotown is the largest in Vancouver
Since Phase 3 of the COVID-19 restart plan was announced we have seen more restaurants shift their business model to offer online ordering. In addition, they have applied for patio extensions to increase their seating capacity. Gastown BIA announced the launch of PatioTown, the largest patio area in the whole city. This was put into place in to attract more people to the area amid the COVID pandemic.
Below is a list of the great patios you can enjoy as you stroll down Gastown!

Continue west on Water Street and you’ll find a massive addition to The Old Spaghetti Factory. The restaurant opened in Gastown in 1970 and has been busy ever since. They have some really great deals for lunch.
The Lamplighter
92 Water St, Vancouver, BC V6B 2K8
At the corner of Abbott, you’ll find a few restaurants where you can enjoy beer, casual dining, and fine French dining. The Lamplighter Public House is one of the city’s busiest pubs. Jules
216 Abbott St, Vancouver, BC V6B 2K8
Next door you’ll find Jules. A restaurant that offers an authentic French bistro experience.
The next new patio is in an odd place, not for everyone. The famous Blood Alley has allowed for businesses to open up and here you’ll find Salt Tasting Room, they do not have a patio, however, they specialize in artisanal cheese, small-batch cured meats, and a dynamic array of wines, beers, and Sherries.

Pourhouse Restaurant

Another of my favourites, just South of the Steam Clock, Gastown’s Pourhouse took note to century-old styles of drinking and dining. The 100-year-old building was built in 1910 and they say ‘Every piece in Pourhouse has a story.’
Water St. Cafe

As you arrive at Cambie, the patio at Waterstreet Cafe welcomes you. Located across from the steam clock in the heart of historic Gastown, in a building that was built in 1906.
Their second patio goes south and accompanies their takeout window!
Black Frog Eatery
108 Cambie St, Vancouver, BC V6B 2M8
Kitty-corner from Water Street Cafe at the end or beginning of Cambie is the Black Frog Eatery. You’ll find a great selection of beers, tasty food, and nice people, and the view is great!
Steamworks Brewing
375 Water St, Vancouver, BC V6B 1B8
And now for some beer. As you exit Gastown, at the corner of Water St. and Seymour stands one of the first Craft Breweries in Vancouver. Steamworks. Working there from 2004 – 2006 I had the opportunity to help start their patio expansion. Its a great addition and now they’ve taken over some of the parking stalls which offers more room and better views!
We hope you get to enjoy Patiotown and restaurants in Gastown, we’ll be adding a few more patios on this list, so stay tuned!
